Located in Madison, N.J., Drew University is one of the worst colleges for food. Food prices have been called “exorbitant” and students would prefer to eat off campus.

In Kings Points, N.Y., the United States Merchant Marine Academy serves up food that is “prepared to conform to nutritional and caloric guidelines to ensure a healthy population is ready for rigorous academic and physical educations.” That does not sound like a great way to make food.

In Ada, Ohio, this university lacks imaginations when it comes to preparing menus. The biggest complaint from students on College Prowler is the repetitive menu and lack of variety for campus dining options.

Located in Aurora, N.Y., Wells College does not allow students to take food out of the dining hall — so no coffee or taking food out of the cafeteria. If you do, it may result in “revocation of dining privileges.”

Located in New York City, this university serves up food such as egg salad and kidney beans. One year, a student even found a grasshopper in her salad. Maybe Fordham University should do a complete food makeover.

In Sarasota, FL., this college often runs out of food before dinner is even over. To make things worse, the food is expensive and the hours are horrible. Better get there early to make sure you have something to eat.

Located in Hampden Sydeny, VA., this college serves cereal, ham and turkey sandwiches. That doesn’t sound very appetizing or filling. In 2011, they had a handful of health violations, which included the blockage of a hand-washing facility in the serving area. Gross.

In Santa Fe, NM., St. John’s College serves vegan loaf and pot roast with tomato gravy. That doesn’t sound very appetizing after a long day of studying. Plus, the college said “sometimes the lines are long.”

Located in Salisbury, N.C., Catawaba offers low-quality food with not a wide variety. They rotate cheese, pepperoni and a specialty pizza. That’s not very creative. Students have also complained the food just tastes awful.

In Hampton, VA., Hampton University’s dining experience has been called “rude and unkempt.” Students have reported bugs crawling around as they were getting food from the hall. They have had a few reported food violations, such as refrigerator doors that don’t seal.
